The Bangor South Haven Heritage Water Trail will be holding a Black River Cleanup Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 13, 2015. Meet at the CR 384 access site.
2015 Heritage Water Trail River WORK-DAY
Come and marvel at “Our Black River” while we “tame the wildness” of downfallen trees, just enough to provide a “Pathway for Paddlers” for this summer and fall! Once again, a “season of volunteer work” is planned on five (5) Saturdays: May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20, and June 27 from 10:00 AM to 3: 00 PM beginning at our “staging area” at the Basic Family Access site on CR 384.
Bring a canoe or kayak, life preserver, water, sack lunch and snack, sun block and bug spray and gloves. No chainsaws or machetes. These work days are fun and gratifying!
For information call (269) 637-6468 or (Cell) (269-)491-4689
Work will be with lopper-trimmers and bow saws and similar hand tools supplied by B/SH HWTA or you may bring your own. Most of the work can be performed from canoes or kayaks, while some of the crew will periodically wade into the river with wet suits early in the season, changing to shorts or similar as the river warms up toward early summer.
Join other volunteers in this “natural and enjoyable work.”
