CITY REOPENS DYCKMAN AVENUE TO AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC
The City of South Haven is pleased to announce the reopening of Dyckman Avenue and the
Dyckman Avenue Bascule Bridge from Dunkley Avenue to North Shore Drive. The roadway will
be reopened to automobile traffic on Friday, May 15 at 12:00 pm. Sidewalks along the
construction zone have been open for pedestrian traffic since April 30.
The Bascule Bridge has been closed to automobile traffic for a period of 31 weeks to permit
major rehabilitation of the structure. In addition, the City has completed the reconstruction of
1300 feet of Dyckman Avenue west of the bridge crossing. The total value of the improvements
is estimated to be in excess of $4.3 million.
As of 12:00 pm on Friday, May 15, bridge openings will be restricted to the normal schedule as
follows: bridge will be opened on the hour and half hour. Hours of operation are 7:00 am – 11:00
pm Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am – Midnight on Friday, and 6:00 am – Midnight on
Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays. After hours openings are available for emergencies and
commercial traffic by calling 637-5151.
